Whiskey a Go-Go

The lovely team @shirtbar put on a fantastic evening of whisky, music and style. I had the great pleasure of making over one lucky punter on the spot. @uppercutdeluxe did an amazing job on the the grooming and I looked after the styling. The before and after pics are here to check out, so tell me what you think.

Ambient tunes by the incredible Justine Eltakchi kept the room warm and fuzzy on the outside and whiskey from @johnniewalker kept everyone warm and fuzzy on the inside. It's always fun to do what you love with willing participants and make a real difference in someone's life. I am truly blessed to do the work I love. Whiskey, music, style what a fantastic partnership and a perfect night. Thanks guys!

Checkmate

Check suiting is back in a big way and this 60's inspired duo is a great example of a suit that is a standout on its own but also splits into separates quite well. MJ Bale Chantton suit in blue/ grey/ red check is in lightweight Merino wool and perfect for Spring/Summer.  Paring the suit with a classic crisp white bespoke shirt by Ganton means the suit is the hero. Graphite grey G&L Handmade loafers combine nicely with the suit which is complemented by the inside out MJ Bale silk pocket square. Wear this look to a cocktail party or a wedding where you could always add a navy silk knit tie if required.

Tip: to turn this ensemble into a race day outfit and some fun socks in a navy pattern, a pair of oxfords or brogues, a navy with white pinot tie and finish with a charcoal felt hat.

La Dolce Vita

I do love all things Italian and am quite inspired in my personal style by la dolce vita. I am also very fond of the odd canoli and Papas Pasticerria has the absolute best in Sydney! I dropped in there after a lunch that just needed to finish with something sweet. 

Onto this Italian Riviera influenced ensemble..Start with Andrea Ventura chocolate brown suede double monks strap shoes (sans socks) that our friends at Harrolds carry, then add a pair of Country Road navy blue cotton chinos wrapped in a Sportscraft navy canvas belt, tuck in a floral linen MJ Bale long sleeved shirt and cover this up with a navy / white mini check unstructured blazer by MJ Bale. Oh, I almost forgot the ivory silk handkerchief/ pocket square by Drakes at Strand Hatters, a pocket square is essential in smart casual ensembles. This outfit is perfect for weekend lunch dates or a stroll through your local art gallery. When the blazer comes off I like to roll my shirt sleeves to give the new look a more casual look and feel.

Tip: for the less adventurous, try a crisp white shirt for a more classic look.

The 'Low down' on this amazing blazer- Kurabo ozone wool is a new washable textile that can be easily washed at home. It retains wool’s comfortable feel and it’s natural stretch provides a comfortable fit. Unlike traditional shrink-resistant processes which remove the scales and coating the surface with resins which spoil the soft handle of wool, Ozone wool modifies only the tips of the scales with ozone (found naturally kilometres above the ground (below the atmosphere) without causing serious damage to the wool fibres. This process retains wool’s natural properties and allows it to be washed without shrinkage.

Tip: A light grey male t-shirt and white sneakers would be a really cool casual change into a dressed down look.

VFNO X Harrolds

The lovely folk at Harrolds luxury menswear store played host to myself and my book 'IndulGENT' for Vogue Fashion Night Out with GQ publisher Nick Smith interviewing Luca and I on this famous Fashion night out. Lots of books were signed for happy fashion peeps, including a couple of copies destined to the US prior to its launch next month. Indulgent is now available at all good book stores in Australia and New Zealand with the US and UK release only a few weeks away. It is always a pleasure to chat about fashion and in particular style. Thanks to Max Media Lab for looking after us too, that champagne was delicious!
